Around the World in 80 Days »

Drivers and their vehicles in the ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ rally arrived on the west coast of North America this week. So far the vintage vehicles have been on the road for over 50 days and have bumped and skidded across Europe and China, enduring heat, dust, exhaustion, wildlife, hostile territory and sickness, with only half of those that originally set out still on the road.
There may be more dropouts when they reach the first major U.S. city. There they’ll have to endure car-jackings, road rage, highway patrolmen and high gas prices.
God help them if they have to stop at a garage for repairs.
